“The title role, which in the past saw the Bari stage graced by legends such as Mariano Stabile and Giuseppe Taddei, was performed by Milan Siljanov, who with his magnificent bass-baritone voice displayed incisive phrasing and diction … His Falstaff proved rich in deep irony and humanity.”Eraldo Martucci — OperaClick
La Calisto · MusikTheater an der Wien · 2026“Milan Siljanov as Jupiter is the true master — not to say god — of the evening. What he can do with his voice is astonishing, and the humour with which he moves through all his role’s transformations is a real pleasure.”Online Merker (transl.)
Falstaff · Bari · 2026“Siljanov infuses Sir John Falstaff with the ardent and compelling vocal presence that distinguishes him … bringing out every detail not only of the music but also of a libretto that is a masterpiece of linguistic virtuosity.”Fiorella Sassanelli — La Repubblica
Falstaff · Bari · 2026“A Falstaff of remarkable depth … a full-bodied and authoritative timbre, particularly in the middle and lower register, combined with an irresistible stage verve.”Fernando Greco — Il Tacco d’Italia
La Calisto · Théâtre des Champs-Élysées · 2026“The authority and power of bass-baritone Milan Siljanov are perfectly suited to Jupiter, king of the heavens.”Première Loge (transl.)
Falstaff · Bari · 2026“Siljanov does have character to spare in his singing, the voice distinctive and full of personality … His was a Falstaff that was more complex, more three-dimensional.”Operatraveller
Falstaff · Bari · 2026“Falstaff, a portly gentleman yet not contemptible, was portrayed by Milan Siljanov, with a powerful voice and commanding stature.”Pasquale Bellini — La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno

Milan Siljanov has steadily established himself on Europe’s opera stages and concert platforms, earning acclaim for his warm bass-baritone and vivid character portrayals.
His 2026/27 season includes Giove in Cavalli’s La Calisto at the MusikTheater an der Wien and, in his house debut, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden under Christina Pluhar. He returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper as Panas in The Night Before Christmas and Dikoj in Káťa Kabanová, sings Figaro at the Opéra national de Montpellier, and takes the title role in Cavalli’s Ercole amante at the Opéra de Dijon with Leonardo García-Alarcón. Concert highlights include Bach’s St Matthew Passion in Dublin, Mass in B minor at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and Don Fernando in Beethoven’s Fidelio with Pablo Heras-Casado in Barcelona.
Recent successes include Falstaff at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari and Giove/Diana in La Calisto with Ensemble Correspondances in Paris, Rennes and Caen. A former ensemble member of the Bayerische Staatsoper, his repertoire there includes Leporello, Dulcamara, Donner, Peter in Hänsel und Gretel and Varlaam in Boris Godunov. He has also appeared at the Opéra national de Paris, the Salzburg Whitsun Festival and the Verbier Festival. On the concert platform, he has performed with the Orchestre de Paris and Oslo Philharmonic under Klaus Mäkelä, and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks under Patrick Hahn. His repertoire ranges from Bach’s choral works to Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Verdi’s Requiem.
With pianist Nino Chokhonelidze, he has appeared at Wigmore Hall, the Tonhalle Zürich and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Their album Echoes of Eternity, released by Prospero Classical in 2025, features Schubert, Brahms and Frank Martin and received a nomination for the 2026 International Classical Music Awards.

He received the Verbier Festival’s inaugural Prix Yves Paternot in 2016.
